Overview of Programming Station
Currently, the Programming Station client is available only on Windows.
The Programming Station is the last-mile execution endpoint where devices are physically programmed and provisioned. Programming Station Software is the tooling software used to connect to the devices to be programmed and execute various chip programming tasks. As a key part of the chip programming process that directly interfaces with the operator, it offers a clean and user-friendly operating environment, allowing operators to complete all chip programming tasks easily without in-depth knowledge of complex underlying technologies.
Programming Station Software wraps and governs existing chip vendor and programmer vendor tooling through a layered component architecture, enabling flexibility across different chips and product requirements, as summarized in the following table:
| Component | Provider | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Programming Station Application | OBIS | User interface for programming engineers
|
| Execution Process Control Scripts CLI | OEM | OEM-developed scripts, orchestrate programming and provisioning flows |
| Chip Adaptation CLI | Chip vendor | Chip vendor provided tooling software, supports chip-specific programming and provisioning interfaces |
| Programmer CLI | Programmer vendor | (If applicable) Programmer vendor provided drivers and tools (e.g., J-Link), interfaces directly with physical programming hardware |
This layered architecture allows OBIS to support a wide range of chip platforms and programmer hardware while maintaining a consistent, centralized governance model for all provisioning operations.
